Main Street Convenience Store robbed

METUCHEN — Police are looking for an approximately 6-foot-1-inch-tall black male, possibly with a mustache, who robbed the Main Street Convenience Store, Main Street, at gunpoint on Nov. 2 and took an undisclosed amount of cash.

The robbery occurred at 10:34 a.m., police said.

Police were dispatched by a 911 call at 10: 54 a.m. by the store’s owner.

A 37-year-old female store clerk, who police said was visibly upset by the incident, told police that the suspect, whom she described as wearing black sunglasses, a black Ascot hat, and a black waist-length jacket, came into the store and asked if the store had a particular daily newspaper.

The clerk showed him where the newspaper was, and then the suspect pointed a gold-colored handgun at her, the police report said.

The suspect took an undisclosed amount of cash and left the store, heading north toward Route 27, police said.
