Dr. Shelley, 89, of East Brunswick, died Nov. 7, 2008, in Francis E. Parker Memorial Home, New Brunswick. Prior to his retirement in 1991, he headed Johnson & Johnson Exploratory Research Laboratories before becoming the company’s director of research and corporate director of scientific affairs. Surviving are his wife, Charline Lisanby Shelley; a daughter, Valerie Shelley Wolzien of Grand View-on-Hudson, N.Y., and Thomas Howard Shelley III of Mercerville; and three grandsons. A memorial service was held at New Brunswick Presbyterian Church. Arrangements were under the direction of Bronson and Guthlein Funeral Home, Milltown. Memorial contributions may be made to New Brunswick Presbyterian Church or to the University of Kentucky.
