Edison Rec to present annual holiday show

The Edison Recreation Department announced that its 28th annual holiday show for Edison children ages 2 years through eighth grade will be held 6-7 p.m. Dec. 2 at Herbert Hoover Middle School, 174 Jackson Ave. Each child must be accompanied by an adult (one adult per child). Featured will be “Magical Wonderland,” a holiday adventure with dance and magic. Performing at the holiday show will be Yvonne’s School of Dance and the magicians from the Harry Blackstone Magic Society.

The event will coincide with the annual township tree lighting, which will take place in front of the Heritage at Clara Barton on Amboy Avenue and Third Street. The lighting will take place at 7:30 p.m., following the holiday show. Due to limited seating, tickets will be given on a first-come, first-served basis at the Stelton Community Center, 328 Plainfield Ave., and the Minnie B. Veal Community Center, 1070 Grove Ave. Registrations for the event must be made in person. Tickets will be available at both centers Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with Saturday hours available on Nov. 8, 15 and 22 from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The registration fee for the event is one unwrapped new toy valued at no less than $5. The toy is to be brought in on the day of registration.
