Library to sponsor programs, discussions

The Old Bridge Public Library will host a number of public programs during the month of December.

The library will commemorate World AIDS Day on Dec. 1. Liz Revill of Raritan Bay Medical Center, Old Bridge and Perth Amboy, will staff an information table with the most current information on HIV/AIDS. The theme for World AIDS Day 2008 is Stop AIDS: Keep the Promise.

The library’s Craft Club meets at 1 p.m. every Thursday to work on a wide variety of individual projects, with a focus on knitting and crochet.

Gail Small will present a program titled “Hawaiian Culture” at 1:30 p.m. Dec. 13. Small will display examples of traditional Hawaiian dress, play traditional music and discuss Hawaii’s culture and traditions.

The Original Book Discussion Group will meet at 7 p.m. Dec. 18. Topic will be Charles Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol.”

The Science Fiction Book Discussion Group will not meet during December but will resume in January.

The library is hosting two art exhibits in December. A display of art by Old Bridge High School students is on the walls in the reading room gallery. The high school will host a reception for students, parents and the public at 6 p.m. Dec. 11. The paintings of Dr. Bahaa Girgis of East Brunswick are on display in the library’s garden gallery.
