Youngsters invited to programs at Dowdell

A variety of upcoming youth events are set at the Sadie Pope Dowdell Library, 100 Harold G. Hoffman Plaza, South Amboy. Advance registration is required for all programs. To register, visit the library or call 732-721-6060.

“Tot Time” for youngsters up to age 2 is set for 1:30 p.m. Dec. 1 and 29. Participants will play, sing and learn at different centers.

“Holiday Bingo” for ages 5 and up is planned for 3:30 p.m. Dec. 5. Youngsters will play to win holiday-themed prizes.

“Story Time,” open to ages 3-5, will take place at 3:30 p.m. Dec. 3, 10 and 31. Participants will read, sing and color during programs based on a new theme each week.

“Story and Craft,” open to ages 5 and up, is set for 3:30 p.m. Dec. 12, 19 and 26.

The Knitting Circle will meet at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 2 and 16. Youngsters will learn a new hobby from instructor Sarita.

“Wii Game Nights” are planned for 6:30 p.m. Dec. 4 and 11. A “Smash Brothers Brawl Competition for Teens and Adults” is set for Dec. 4. The Dec. 11 program will feature “Wii Sports” for ages 7-12.

The Disney film “The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian” will be shown at 6 p.m. Dec. 15. Light refreshments will be served.

The library’s Children’s Holiday Party will begin at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 18. The event will feature treats, holiday music, a craft and a holiday fashion show. Youngsters are invited to come “dressed to impress” and win a prize.

“Puzzle Mania,” open to all ages, will be held at 2 p.m. Dec. 20. Participants will play a large variety of puzzles including Sudoku, crossword, mind benders and the classic jigsaw.
