Events scheduled at Edison Library

There will be a TheraPet program at the Edison Public Library, 340 Plainfield Ave., at 6 p.m. Jan. 15. This will be a one-hour program; young children can sit and read to specially trained pets for a 15-minute period. Children can bring their own book selection or choose from a collection made available by the librarians. Attendees must indicate their choice of reading times: 10, 10:15, 10:30 or 10:45 a.m. The program is open to first- through sixth-grade students and adults. Registration begins Jan. 2.

On Jan. 15 at 6 p.m., children can come and celebrate the presidential inauguration by beginning a new year of reading. Participants will have the opportunity to play a game that will determine the number of books each individual will read during 2009, listen to presidential stories, and be part of other “read,” white and blue surprises. This program is open to kindergarten through grade three.

For both programs, call 732-287-2298, ext. 231, to register.
