Cruz Madera, 63, of Freehold, died at home Dec. 26, 2008, after a long fight with cancer. Born in San German, Puerto Rico, she had lived in Freehold for many years. Ms. Cruz was predeceased by her parents, Luis and Maria Madera, a brother, Pedro Madera-Martinez, and a sister, Virginia Madera Martinez. Surviving are eight children, Jimmy Santana and his wife, Cara of Freehold, Andres Santana of San German, Puerto Rico, Ramona Santana of Jackson, David Santana and his wife Kristine, of Lakewood, Mirta Santana and her husband Kenny of Guayanilla, Puerto Rico, Edwin Santana of Freehold, Maria Santana of Freehold and Milagros Santana of Freehold, 10 brothers, five sisters, 17 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. A funeral service was held at the Higgins Memorial Home, Freehold, followed by interment at St. Rose of Lima Cemetery, Freehold.
