HOPEWELL TOWNSHIP: Officials say more open space alternates are needed

Enabling ordinance set for public hearing and adoption vote Jan. 26

The Hopewell Township Committee voted unanimously Monday night to introduce an ordinance under which the Valley’s Open Space Advisory Committee would have two alternate members from each municipality— the township and Pennington and Hopewell boroughs.
Under an existing ordinance, there is one alternate member from each municipality. Adding an alternate member would give the open space group a better chance of having a quorum, officials said.
The Open Space Advisory Committee has five regular members (as opposed to alternate members) from the township and two each from the boroughs.
The ordinance introduced Monday night is scheduled for a public hearing and adoption vote at the committee’s Jan. 26 meeting.
