Mr. Marcus, 74, a resident of Jackson for 47 years, died Jan. 1, 2009, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. A veteran of the U.S. Air Force from 1952 to 1953, he owned and operated George Cohen Inc., a plumbing contractor firm in Lakewood, before his retirement 12 years ago. Mr. Marcus was a member of Friends of Bill W. and American Legion Post No. 166, Lakewood. Surviving are his wife of 51 years, Janet; a son and daughter-inlaw, David and Virginia; two daughters and a son-in-law, Karen and Craig, and Brenda; two sisters, Joan Verb and Gail Marcus; and four grandchildren. Funeral services were held at the Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Cemetery, Arnytown section of North Hanover. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 801 Broad Street, Shrewsbury, NJ 07702. Higgins Memorial Home, Freehold, was in charge of arrangements.
