Community was generous, even in midst of difficult times

I would like to take this opportunity to convey my sincerest thanks to the many individuals and families who donated food, supplies, toys, treats and monetary gifts to Sayreville Pet Adoption Center this holiday season.

Even though times are hard and things are lean for many people, the generosity of the community at large was absolutely overwhelming, unlike anything we’ve seen in years. We received enough cat and dog food to keep us going well into February, which is truly a blessing. Many folks also opened their homes to new pets as well, which is what we are all about.

I would also like to extend my gratitude to the Suburban and Sentinel newspapers for so graciously running the weekly Adopt-a-Pet feature and for publicizing our many fundraising and adoption events throughout the year. Our events are well-attended and successful largely due to the fact that so many people hear about them through the Suburban and Sentinel.

Best wishes to all for a happy and healthy 2009, and we hope it just may be your year to come meet your new best friend (the four-legged variety, of course).
