PRINCETON: Golf Previews

Montgomery
Head Coach: Joe Bassford, first year
Last year: 13-3, North Jersey, Section 2 Group III and Sklyland Delaware East champions
Key returning golfers: Jay Jacket (Sr.), Dylan Dineen (Jr.), John Hankanson (Jr.), Jeff Thomsen (Jr.), Richard Zhang (So.).
Top newcomers: Mike Hall (Sr.), Chris Caliguire (Jr.), Melvin Mendoza (Jr.),  Ran Warriner (Jr.), MIke McHugh (So.), Zach Miller (So.), Brian Motherway (So.), Andy Singh (So.), Thomas Yarson (Fr.).
Coach’s Thoughts: We have been shooting pretty well getting ready for the season. Our new guys are getting better each time out. A lot of the guys we have this year played JV last year and they have all gotten better. Our practices have been pretty competitive between the players.
Princeton
Head Coach: Sheryl Severance, 16th year
Last year: 16-2, CVC Patriot Division champions.
Key returning golfers: Brian Dunlap (Sr.), Chris Yang (Sr.), Fraser Graham (So.).
Top newcomers: Zack Kleinbart (Sr.), Connor Finn (Jr.), Scott Schwartz (Jr.), Kyle Walsh (Jr.), Marshall Crane (So.), Matt Lesnick (Fr.).
Coach’s Thoughts: We have only two returning starters from last year, Brian Dunlap and Fraser Graham. Both are strong golfers and are positive motivators for rebuilding the team. To fill the remaining four starter spots our golfers know they have to work hard and be ready to perform come April 1st. We are looking forward to being a competitive team in a strong conference. In the past 5 years the Colonial Valley Conference golfers have proven to be among the best in New Jersey, we hope to play a part in continuing the CVC success.
WW-P North
Head Coach: Trevor Warner, third year
   Last year: 9-7
Key returning golfers: Andrew Chismar (Sr.), Joe Pierro (Sr.), Simran Charan (Jr.), Robert Dunne (Jr.), Miles Eisenman (Jr.), Dan Trink (Jr.), Garrett Yung (Jr.), Neil Bedi (Fr.).
Top newcomers: Ryan Camuso (Jr.), Kevin Mann (So.), Charles Cai (Fr.), Ryan Siegler (Fr.).
Coach’s Thoughts: Our team has more depth this year than the past two years. Our No. 1 goal is to qualify for states as a team. The last two years we’ve fnished with winning records but missed the state cutoff by one match. Hopefully this year will be different. Dan Trink and Simran Charan have been varisity since their freshman years. Joe Pierro should be a steady force in the lineup. Two freshman, Charles Cai and Ryan Siegler, have made an impact. There is a lot of competition for our sixth spot in the lineup. Every day there will be playing time on the line.
WW-P South
Head Coach: Russell Wray, seventh year
Last year: 16-1, Mercer County Tournament and CVC Colonial Division champions
Key returning golfers: Aakash Bhatia (Jr.), Richard Wehringer (Jr.), Michael Casarona (So.), Sean Hazen (So.), Brian Oglesby (So.), Steven Oh (So.), Kevin Smith (So.).
Top newcomers: Jacob Donohue (So.), Tim Oh (Fr.).
Coach’s Thoughts: The Pirates are looking for solid play from all in the top eight on the team. With a change in the dynamics from last year, we now need to rely on the depth of the team and work together to be successful. Four of our top six players from last year have graduated.
 Princeton Day School
Head Coach: Win Headley, fourth year
   Last year: 6-7
Key returning players: Jim Dwyer (Sr.), John Inman (Sr.), Alexander Phipps (Sr.), Ken Turner (Sr.), Alex Gluck (Jr.), Matt Mantell (Jr.).
Top newcomers: Joe Rogers (Sr.), Eric Falcon (Fr.).
Coach’s Thoughts: We’ve played our first two matches and we have won one and lost one. John Inman has been sick and has not been able to play yet. In his abscence, Ken Turner has done a nice job filing in as our No. 1. It’s a team thing and some days guys are up and some days they are down. We’re looking for that consistency right now.
