Mystery symposium planned for April 25

Sisters in Crime-Central Jersey and the New Jersey Press Women (NJPW) will sponsor Give Me a Clue!, the fifth annual Clued-In Mystery Symposium, April 25 at the Jamesburg Senior Center, 139 Stevens Ave. Doors will open at 8:30 a.m. for a continental breakfast and networking. The symposium will run through 5 p.m.

The all-day event is open to all individuals — fans, readers, students, librarians, teachers, bloggers, aspiring or published authors, editors, mystery buffs, publishing professionals, etc. — who love mysteries.

Registration fee is $40, $35 for Sisters in Crime members, $30 for students and seniors. The fee includes Clue Pack at check-in, a clue sheet, continental breakfast, a full buffet lunch, five professional panels, author signings, door prizes, networking, a scavenger hunt and more. Winners of the recentMelting Pot writing contest also will be announced.

Panels topics will be: “How to Get a Publisher or Agent”; “Did We Get It Right?”; “Writing From a Cultural Perspective”; “Twists and Red Herrings”; “Unreliable Eyewitness”; and “Publishers and Publicity — Traditional Versus Current Trends.” Panelists, who are published authors and industry professionals, will include Shobhan Bantwal, Jeff Cohen, Peggy Ehrhart, Jack Getze, Shirley Hailstock, Carlotta Holton, David Lester (retired police chief), Evan Marshall, Steve Rigolosi, Lily Tang, Ann Waldron and E.F. Watkins. The panelists will be available all day to sign their books and interact with audience members.

Proceeds from the event will benefit area literacy programs.
