Seminar will offer info on aquatic plants

Oscar D. Warmerdam, president and owner of Moerings USA, will offer a presentation titled “Using Aquatic Plants in the Water Garden” 11 a.m. May 30 at Grounds Keeper’s retail headquarters and Pond Shop, 798 Route 34, Matawan (Old Bridge).

Warmerdam will offer an expert’s take on the use of marginal hardy and tropical aquatic plants that can be used to create a balanced biological ecosystem within a patio pond. MoeringsUSAhas operations modeled after its Dutch nursery, with propagation fields in China and Europe.

The seminar, which is sponsored by Grounds Keeper Inc.’s retail headquarters and Pond Shop, is open to the public. Admission is free of charge; however, space is limited so reservations are encouraged. To RSVP, call the Pond Shop at 732-566-1600.

Aquatic plant tables will be on display all weekend for public viewing. Matching proper quantities of plants to the size of a water feature and softening the outside edges of a pond with other perennial plantings within the surrounding landscape will be discussed.
