The Brick Morning Rotary Club seeks participants for its third annual car show and garage sale sell-a-thon. Both events will be held June 20 at Brick High School, 346 Chambers Bridge Road.

The fee for an 8-by-10 foot space at the sell-a-thon is $20. Participants must supply their own tables and no liability insurance is provided. Set-up will begin at 7 a.m. and the event will run to 3 p.m. Needed are garage sale and craft items. Food items are not welcome. A June 21 rain date has been set. The car show is open to all makes and models and will start at 11 a.m. and run to 3 p.m. Goody bags and dash plaques will be given to the first 60 registrants. A trophy presentation will start at 2 p.m. There will also be DJ entertainment, a 50/50 and a silent auction. The fee is $12 for advance registration and $15 on the day of the event. Proceeds will be used for scholarships awarded at Brick High School, Brick Memorial High School and for Brick residents attending the Ocean County Vocational Technical School.

The Department of Continuing and Professional Education at Ocean County College is offering the following

• “Job Search Workshop with Résumé Writing,” offered from 6-8:30 p.m., Wednesdays, June 3-24 at the OCC Main Campus, College Drive, Toms River. The cost is $52. This program reveals the secret of an effective resume.

• “Help in Looking for a Job in Today’s Market” offered 6-8 p.m., Wednesdays, July 8 to Aug. 12, at the OCC Main Campus, College Drive, Toms River. The cost is $89. The program provides tips on searching for employment and offers help with writing a powerful resume.

• “How to Get a Federal Job,” offered 6:30-9 p.m., Thursdays, July 8 to Aug. 13 at the OCC Southern Education Center, 195 Cedar Bridge Road, Manahawkin. The cost is $89. The workshop provides tips and techniques for getting a federal job. To register, call 732-255-0404.

For those who have a bachelor’s degree and would like to become a teacher, the Alternative Route to Teaching program offered at Ocean County College (OCC) can help them to become licensed without completing a traditional teacher-training program.

Students may choose to take the program as either a teacher certification requirement to become a teacher in New Jersey or for graduate-level credit toward a Master of Arts in teaching degree from New Jersey City University. Stage I is a 60-hour preservice program of in-class instruction with additional hours of guided classroom observations. Stage II is a 165- hour program with content-specific courses.

State I classes will meet 5-8:45 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays, July 6-Aug. 12 at the OCC Main Campus on College Drive, Toms River.

In order to quality for Stage I, candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in an arts and sciences field for elementary education or a major in the field for subject area license along with a certificate of eligibility and a cumulative grade point average of 2.75 or higher for last degree earned.
