The Metuchen Recreation Commission is pleased to announce the addition of a summer chess camp to its schedule.
The camp will be held July 20-24 from 9 a.m. to noon at the Edgar School, Brunswick Avenue, Metuchen.
The one-week camp is an introduction to the pieces, positions, movement, castling, tactics, time management, various checkmates and more.
Studies have shown that chess raises IQ scores, fosters critical, creative, original thinking, improves reading and memory, and demonstrates the importance of concentration.
The cost of the program is $180 per student.
