Showcase will aid kids who have cancer

Arms Wide Open Children’s Foundation, a nonprofit organization formed by Dena and Billy Sherwood when their 13- month-old son, Billy Jr., was diagnosed with neuroblastoma, is inviting the community for an evening of fashion, food, friendship and fun from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday, July 16, at Logan, a boutique that showcases men’s and women’s contemporary designer clothing as well as skin care and home accessories, located at 15 Station Place, Metuchen.

Neuroblastoma is a rare, aggressive and relentless form of childhood cancer that occurs in infants and children younger than age 5 and can form before birth. The Sherwoods decided to reach out to other families struggling with similar issues in an effort to help, and formed Arms Wide Open in March 2009.

Donations financially assist families with day-to-day expenses.

There will be shopping, a wine tasting, hors d’oeuvres and live music at the event.
