Children in grades four through eight are invited to join professional engineer and Roebling Museum staff on Saturday, Aug. 8, from 10 a.m. until noon for a bridge building workshop. The workshop will explore the many products made by the Roebling family business and the technology of the most famous of Roebling products — the Roebling made suspension bridges. Students will explore the types of bridges, how and why they are made and make models to understand the basics of civil engineering. Registration is required as space is limited. To register, please call the museum at 609-499-7200. A confirmation call will ensure a place in the workshop. The Roebling Museum is located on 100 Second Ave. in Roebling. The entrance and parking is directly off Hornberger Avenue. Email address is www.roeblingmuseum.org.

Florence United Methodist Church is still running a Food Pantry. There are quite a few people who are less fortunate than some of us. We do need donations to this food pantry such as; cereals, milk, bread, potatoes, vegetables, butter, canned meats (tuna, spam, chicken) pasta combos in a can, microwavable dinners, lunch meats, cheese , spaghetti sauce, mac and cheese, hot dogs and rolls, peanut butter and jelly. That should give you a good idea. If you can donate anything at all, you may call me at 499-3807 and make arrangements for me to meet you at the church. Anything is greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Did you attend the flag raising and open house at the Roebling Museum on Saturday, June 27? Well, if you did or if you took any photos, then you can help Linda Kocsis Anderson. Her dad, Louis C. Kocsis, donated the 36-foot American flag. Linda is in the process of making a scrapbook photo album as one-of-a-kind gift for her dad to remember his special day. If you can give/donate her any photos taken that day, she is willing to pay you for them. Photos do not need to be of her dad. Lou Kocsis purchased this flag eight or nine years ago and has anxiously been waiting for the day of the flag raising. He has asked his daughter “When?” every year. You can see how important this is to Lou and also to his daughter, Linda, to do this for dad. If you can help her, please call her at 609-499-9494 as soon as possible. If there are any videos that would be great! I’m sure many of you know Lou, Let’s help Linda make him happy! Thank you!
