Carnival for Pals takes place Sept. 27

SEA BRIGHT — The Carnival for Pals — Kids Helping People with ALS (or Lou Gehrig’s disease) will take place from noon to 5 p.m. Sept. 27 at Driftwood Cabana Club, Ocean Avenue in Sea Bright (rain or shine).

The family event, sponsored by Stillwell- Hansen, Edison, is planned, built and run by more than 100 local children to help people with ALS. Young talent ranging from ages 7- 17 run the Kids Rock Stage where musical performances entertain the crowd. Headlining bands include The Unknowns and Definite No, recording artist Cara Salimando along with many other performers.

Cotton candy, hotdogs and the usual carnival fare will be served as well as BBQ Row sponsored by Copper Canyon, Atlantic Highlands.

Several other restaurants will be grilling up treats, including McLoone’s Pier House, Long Branch.

Funk & Standard, Red Bank, will have a booth, as will Cupcakes of Little Silver. Attendees may create their own cartoon with Small Factory Productions, or take photos in front of a green screen provided by Family Tree photographers.

The auction tables will offer familyfriendly prizes such as Pastry Chef for a Day at the Flaky Tart, DJ for a Day at a local radio station and sushi-making lessons by Yumi Sushi.

The Driftwood Cabana Club is donating the venue for the special event, which is open to the public and offers free admission.

The event benefits The Joan Dancy & Pals & StayTough.FightHARD Foundations, which support Pals (People with ALS) through financial grants, medical equipment, nursing care and partner with families through this devastating and fatal disease. Carnival for Pals also benefits a lab dedicated to finding a treatment and cure for ALS, The ALS Therapy Development Institute.
