AHS field hockey team soars

With a strong defense that rarely lets a goal in, the Allentown High School field hockey team is celebrating a strong season.

As of Oct. 12, the team had a 10-1 record, suffering its only loss to Hopewell Valley on Oct. 8.

Hopewell Valley was the first team to score more than one goal against Allentown. During the game, Allentown’s Ally Bakerman made one goal and Samantha O’Brien had one assist. Allentown had a total of 10 shots on goal and goalie Nikki Barbaree made seven saves. However, the strong showing wasn’t enough to ward off the 1-3 loss to Hopewell Valley.

The Allentown team rebounded from the loss quickly and defeated Steinert the following day. During the game that Allentown won 5-0, Paige Weatherbee and Bakerman each scored two goals and Dana Sensi had a goal and an assist that led the team to its victory in Hamilton. Allentown had a total of 20 shots on goal during the game and Barbaree made 12 saves.
