The Edison Recreation Department is celebrating the Thanksgiving holiday with a “Fowl” Shooting Competition 10 a.m. Nov. 21 at the Stelton Community Center, 328 Plainfield Ave., Edison. No turkeys will be hurt in this basketball fowl/foul shooting contest.
The contest is open to all Middlesex County residents. Children, teens and adults can shoot for gift certificates. There will be a male and female winner in each category.
Preregistration in one of the following categories is required: elementary school, middle school, high school, adult and parent/ child.
The entrance fee is a canned or non-perishable foods donation for needy families at Thanksgiving. Donations must be brought in at time of registration.

The Edison Recreation Department will begin accepting team applications for the 2010 men’s basketball program Oct. 26. Applications must be returned by Dec. 4. All teams made up of New Jersey residents and businesses are invited to apply. Applications are available between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. at the Stelton Community Center, 328 Plainfield Ave. The entry fee is $300. Each team will also pay one half of the official’s fee prior to the start of the game. Details: 732-248-7312.
