The township has acquired a 6-acre parcel of land on Keefe Road, adjacent to the township-owned Village Park, according to Municipal Manager Richard Krawczun.
The Lawrence Township Conservation Foundation purchased the land from Hopewell Township residents Ted and Karen Wilk for $185,000 earlier this month, Mr. Krawczun said.
The nonprofit group immediately transferred ownership of the undeveloped land to the municipality, Mr. Krawczun said. The township paid for the legal costs of the transaction between itself and the LTCF, which amounted to about $1,800, he said.
“The conservation foundation stepped forward to propose the purchase of that property, with the idea of it being transferred to Lawrence Township,” Mr. Krawczun said. “It will become part of Village Park. It was an opportunity to add this additional 6 acres to our parkland.”
