Funding needed for women’s health centers

I’m writing about community health centers such as Planned Parenthood (PPH), which serve as trusted entry points for women’s essential health care. At PPH women receive contraceptive care, Pap tests, pelvic exams, counseling, and testing and treatment for HIV and STIs.

But in the current health care reform discussions, there are deliberate attempts by some groups to restrict coverage for women’s care.

Women of childbearing age spend 68 percent more in out-ofpocket health costs than men, in large part because of reproductive health-related needs.

To have healthy families, women must have access to affordable reproductive health care and providers who specialize in women’s care.

Please make known the continued need of funding for community health centers, especially Planned Parenthood.
