4 Jackson roads due for repairs

JACKSON — A grant to improve roads, which municipal officials applied for last spring, has been granted by the New Jersey Department of Transportation.

“We have received a DOT municipal aid grant for $200,000,” Mayor Michael Reina said. “The grant provides for improvements to Docare Road, Challenger Way, Gomberg Avenue and Montifiore Road.”

Construction plans will be prepared, and the work is expected to proceed in 2010, he said.

The grant award is in response to an application made by the township last spring.

Reina said that while there are other roads in Jackson that need attention, these four streets are predominantly dirt roads and are in major disrepair.
