The team prevailed against Hopewell Valley 28-12 on Wednesday afternoon, improving its record to 8-0.

The undefeated team now holds the new season record of wins by any football team in the history of Allentown High School. The previous best, as displayed in the school’s trophy case, was 7-0 in 1955-56.

A victory against Pinelands Regional High School Nov. 13 would put the finishing touch on what has been an incredible season for the young men who hadn’t played as teammates before this year, according to team parent Barbara Nissinger.

“This would be quite an accomplishment for this team of nearly 40, and a bright light to Allentown’s future football program,” Nissinger said.

The team members and their parents cannot contain their pride. They credit the new coaching staff — Joe Murphy, Matt Mordes, Victor Veltre, and Kevin Mulvey — led by Jay Graber for doing a stellar job with training.

Team parent Brian Martin said the group has developed into quite a force on the gridiron.

“They have developed quite a following this year, even at the away games the boys have the crowd cheering,” Martin said.

Nissinger added, “Good luck in your quest for the perfect season Allentown High School freshman.”
