CENTRAL JERSEY: Armenante leaves Allentown

A year-end resignation has left one seat vacant on the Allentown Borough Council and ushered in a new council president.
Republican Margaret Armenante resigned from the council because she moved out of town, and her resignation went into effect Jan. 1, according to Clerk Julie Martin.
Ms. Armenante could not be reached for comment.
Ms. Martin said the township Republican Club will submit to the council three names to choose from for her replacement, which could be decided as early as the next council meeting, Jan. 19.
At the Jan. 5 reorganization, Republican Michael Schumacher was named the new council president, a position Ms. Armenante held several times over the last decade or so, Ms. Martin said.
In related business, Republicans Daniel Wimer, an incumbent, and Margaret Rose, a newcomer, were sworn into new three-year terms on the council.
Meanwhile, Millstone held its reorganization Jan. 6, when Republican newcomer Gary Dorfman was sworn into a three-year term on the Township Committee. The township also has a new judge, Thomas Foley, according to Deputy Clerk Nancy Warnick. The former judge, Deborah Gelson, served the township for about nine years.
The mayor and deputy mayor remain Nancy Grbelja and Bob Kinsey, respectively.
In Plumsted, there were no major changes at the Jan. 5 reorganization. Mayor Ron Dancer and Deputy Mayor Dave Leutwyler retained their positions, said Clerk Dorothy Hendrickson, and Mike McCue and Eric Sorchik were sworn into new three-year terms on the committee. All committee members in the township are Republicans.
All professionals in Plumsted remain the same for 2010, Ms. Hendrickson said.
