Samuel Barber: A Centenary Celebration

On January 24th, 2010 the New School for Music Study will present a recital celebrating the 100th birthday of the great American composer Samuel Barber (1910-1981). The program will feature the complete solo piano repertoire of Barber, including the Sonata, Op. 26, Excursions, Op. 20, Nocturne, Op. 33, and Ballade, Op. 46. Performers include New School faculty Dr. Scott Donald and Dr. Rebecca Mergen Pennington. The recital will be held at 2 pm at Kingston United Methodist Church, located at 9 Church Street in Kingston, NJ. Admission is free, with donations accepted.
This recital is the second concert of the New School for Music Study’s 2009-2010 Faculty Recital Series. Located in Kingston, NJ, the New School is a non-profit community music school. It is one of the country’s leading centers in piano education.
