Haven Hospice volunteers needed

The Haven Hospice program at JFK Medical Center, 80 James St., Edison, will host an open house for potential volunteers 6 p.m. Feb. 3 at the center’s third-floor conference room.

The hospice is looking for volunteers over the age of 18, of all different backgrounds and abilities. Opportunities include: home visitation, nursing home and hospital visitation, office support, transportation, hair styling, massage, Reiki and musicians. They are also in need of bilingual volunteers to help be of assistance to the Indian, Asian and Hispanic population. Volunteers must complete a six-week training program in order to work at the hospice.

Haven Hospice provides care for patients and families who are experiencing a terminal illness and includes medical, emotional, psychological and spiritual support along with 24-hour staff availability. It also runs a children’s program that focuses on the emotional needs of children age 3-18 who are either coping with an illness or the loss of a loved one.

Training sessions will be held 6 p.m. Wednesdays starting Feb. 24. To RSVP, call Maryanne Spencer at 732-321-7769.
