Met. Citizen Police Academy slated

The 13-week Metuchen Citizen Police Academy is set to begin on March 1. The free interactive class teaches residents what it is like to be a Metuchen police officer through department procedures, guidelines, responsibilities, and demands of personnel that guide police decision-making. The class will meet 6:30-9:30 p.m. Mondays at Borough Hall and is open to Metuchen residents, business owners, and school faculty within the borough who are over 18 years old and who successfully complete a background investigation. Some of the topics that will be covered include: an overview of the department’s organization and structure; recruitment and training; and the roles and responsibilities of various divisions and sections. In addition, participants will be given an opportunity to “ride along” with a patrol officer. To find out more about the academy or for information on how to register, call Capt. Robin Rentenberg at 732-632-8548. Class size is limited.
