PRINCETON: Library robbers take iPod from youth

By Kristine Snodgrass, Staff Writer
A juvenile was threatened and robbed Saturday afternoon in the Princeton Public Library, according to Princeton Borough police.
He was approached by two other juveniles at about 4:45 p.m., who threatened to physically harm him after he refused to hand over his iPod, police said.
After several threats of physical harm, the victim handed over the iPod, which the suspects took before fleeing, police said.
The suspects later were identified, located and placed into the custody of the Mercer County Youth Facility, police said. They’re facing charges of juvenile delinquency and robbery, police said.
Library Director Leslie Burger said Monday that library staff was unaware the incident occurred. Apart from the occasional theft of an unattended purse, the library does not have a problem with thefts or other crime, she said.
The library is staffed with building monitors everyday, including from 1 p.m. to closing on weekends, she said, who keep an eye on what’s going on throughout the library. There are also security cameras in place, she said.
”I’m thinking it’s an isolated incident,” she said.
