Mr. Pate, 55, of Howell, died Jan. 4, 2010, of complications related to Parkinson’s disease. He was an opera singer and salesman. Mr. Pate was a 32nd-degree Mason in the Valley of Trenton Lodge, a vigil member of the Order of the Arrow in Monmouth Council of Boy Scouts, a volunteer blacksmith at Allaire State Park, and a member of the Howell Office of Emergency Management and First Aid and Rescue squads. Mr. Pate is survived by his wife, Sharon; a son, Seth; his father, Joseph; three brothers, John, James and Jeff; and a sister, Elizabeth Miller. An informal gathering was held at the Howell First Aid Squad. Memorial donations may be sent to Boy Scout Venture Crew 191, c/o Squankum Fire Company, 271 Squankum Road, Farmingdale, NJ 07727. Arrangements were by the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, Freehold Township.
