HOPEWELL TOWNSHIP: Small business seminar slated Monday

By John Tredrea, Staff Writer
A free public seminar on starting a business is set from 7-9:30 p.m. Monday at the Hopewell Township Municipal Building, Route 546 and Scotch Road.
The seminar, discussed at several Township Committee meetings last year, was the idea of Committeeman John Murphy and former Committeeman David Dafilou.
”In this tough economy, we have to do whatever we can to help our residents,” Mr. Murphy said.
”This forum really just pulls together some of the local talent we have in town to help new businesses,” added Mr. Dafilou. “It’s really just neighbors helping neighbors.”
Messrs. Murphy and Dafilou proposed developing a forum to provide information to residents who may be interested in starting a business. The concept was to support Valley residents who may have been part of a downsizing and are looking for opportunities to use their skills and experience. The seminar will provide an overview of key items to consider when starting a small business.
Featured speakers are Carol Rolewicz, business teacher, Central High School, and Michelle C. Jones, vice president, The Bank of Princeton.
”To the extent that there is a desire for follow-up seminars, future forums may be scheduled on subjects including real estate, legal issues and other areas to support local businesses,” Mr. Murphy said.
