John E. Murphy Sr.

Mr. Murphy, 79, of Howell, died May 10, 2010, at home. He retired as a foreman for the Howell Department of Public Works road department. Mr. Murphy was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He was predeceased by two brothers, Arthur L. Murphy Jr. and Ralph Murphy. Surviving are a son, John Murphy Jr. and his wife, Lesa, of Weatherford, Texas; a daughter, Vicky Murphy of Orlando, Fla.; his mother, Elsie Murphy of Howell; two brothers, W. Larry Murphy of McKinleyville, Calif., and Gerald Murphy of Farmingdale; a sister, Phyllis Trumbo of Emmaus, Pa.; his longtime companion, Angie Barnhart of Howell; five grandchildren; and stepchildren Scott Barnhart and his wife, Jodi, of Hanncock, N.Y., and Theresa and her husband, Ray Killion, of Jackson. A funeral service was held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, Freehold Township, followed by interment at Monmouth Memorial Park Cemetery, Tinton Falls.
