Museum teaches children about local history

Another school year has ended and so have the class trips to the MacKenzie Museum and the old Ardena Public School No. 2. It was a pleasure seeing the children this year, and we want you to know that your children were polite and well-behaved. We hope they enjoyed their visit as much as we did. And we thank you for their gift shop purchases — all proceeds from the gift shop (and donations) are used to pay for the heating and phone bills at the schoolhouse.

If you would like to see the MacKenzie museum, it is open on the last Saturday of the month from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., and the old Ardena School No. 2 is open the last Sunday of the month from 1-4 p.m., except holiday weekends. For more information or to arrange tours by appointment, call Lynne at 732-919-7036.

Come and visit us at Howell Day, July 10. The schoolhouse (across from Oak Glen Park) will be open for the festivities, with tours and demonstrations, from noon to 5 p.m.

Also, if you plan to purchase any books for summer reading, you can help by doing so during our Bookfair at Barnes & Noble on July 31. Just tell them it is for Bookfair ID No. 10244333. This can be used at any Barnes & Noble store or for online purchases (enter ID number at checkout).

Thank you again for the opportunity to share Howell’s past with Howell’s future!
