Plumsted officials honor CERT graduates

PLUMSTED — The Plumsted Township Committee recently presented certificates of recognition to the second graduating class of the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT), a volunteer service trained in various topics relating to emergency responses.

The team members are trained in light search and rescue, firefighting, first aid, emergency procedures for disaster preparedness, team organization, disaster psychology and terrorism information.

The CERT units are under the direction of the Plumsted Office of Emergency Management headed by Linda Salcfas.

According to a press release from the township, CERT training promotes a partnering effort between emergency services and the people they serve. The goal is for emergency personnel to train neighbors, members of community organizations and employees in workplaces in basic response skills.
