State funding will pay for improvements

PLUMSTED — Michael Russo, the state Department of Transportation Director of Local Aid and Economic Development, has notified Plumsted that it has been awarded $103,000 in grant funding to pay for road construction and drainage improvements on two municipally owned streets, Applegate Lane and Helen Street.

Applegate Lane, a connector street between the county roads of Route 528 (Lakewood Road) and Archertown Road, will be repaved with $67,000 in state grant funding.

Helen Street, located off Cedar Street in the vicinity of the police department and the recycling center, will have paving and drainage improvements with $36,000 in state grant funding from the state’s Transportation Trust Fund.

The paving and drainage improvements on Applegate Lane and Helen Street are expected to begin later this summer and be completed this fall, according to Mayor Ron Dancer.
