Entries sought for group art exhibit

The Guild of Creative Art, Shrewsbury, is seeking artists whose lives have been touched by cancer for a group exhibit, “The Healing Power of Art,” Oct. 28 to Nov. 10.

Artists whose lives have been affected by a woman’s cancer are eligible to submit one piece of art. All media will be accepted; there is no age requirement

A digital (jpeg) image of the work along with the title, media, size, and a brief statement by the artist on how his/her life has been affected should be emailed no later than Sept. 15 to [email protected]; 120 pieces of art will be selected. The exhibit will benefit Lin’s Linens Inc., a nonprofit concerned with women’s cancer.

All work must be hand-delivered to the Guild of Creative Art on Oct. 27, 2010. Two-dimensional works must not exceed 48 inches on any side. Work must be dry, suitably framed, wired, and ready for hanging; no alligator clips. Plexiglass is required for works over 20 inches by 28 inches. Wraparound canvas must be painted on all sides, without staples. All accepted work must be for sale and remain up until the show ends; the Guild will receive a 33 1/3 percent commission on all sales. Artwork must be picked up at the Guild of Creative Art on Nov. 11.

The entry fee is $15, which should be sent by check made out to the Guild of Creative Art at the time of submission. Notification of acceptance will be made by email.
