Tire Amnesty Month for county residents

From now until Aug. 31, Monmouth County residents can drop off up to eight car tires at the Aberdeen Township Department of Public Works yard through the county’s Tire Amnesty Month program.

Tires can be dropped off at the facility, 147 Lenox Road (west of Cliffwood Avenue), Monday through Saturday from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The program will accept a maximum of eight tires up to 20 inches from any Monmouth County resident. Participants will be required to show identification to confirm county residence. The program will not accept tires from businesses or institutions.

Tire Amnesty Month, sponsored by the Monmouth County Board of Chosen Freeholders in cooperation with Aberdeen Township, was created to enable residents to dispose of abandoned tires that can accumulate water and serve as a mosquitobreeding habitat.
