The Assunpink Wildlife Management Area will be the site of a new event to get more New Jersey residents outdoors.
The first Wild Outdoor Expo will take place 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 25-26. The free event was designed to build appreciation for New Jersey’s bountiful natural resources and to encourage increased participation in outdoor recreation through a blend of conservation education and hands-on opportunities to experience a wide range of outdoor skills and activities, according to a press release from the N.J. Department of Environmental Protection (DEP).
Attendees will be able to try fishing, hiking, shooting sports, kayaking, camping, wildlife watching and more. Numerous environmental and conservation exhibits will be on display and a wide range of experts will talk to visitors and provide demonstrations throughout the weekend.
The expo will showcase the area’s natural resources and outdoor recreation opportunities that are available to all New Jersey citizens and visitors. The public is encouraged to attend the inaugural expo to celebrate and help perpetuate New Jersey’s great wildlife and outdoor heritage.
The DEP Division of Fish and Wildlife and Division of Parks and Forestry, and the Conserve Wildlife Foundation of New Jersey are sponsoring the event.
