‘Art From Found Objects’

The Monmouth Museum in Lincroft is hosting an exhibit of artwork that focuses on art created from the undisguised, but often modified, use of common found objects that are not normally considered art, often because they already have a non-art function. Seventy-five percent of the media used by artists to create works for this exhibition is from either discarded, reusable or found objects.

Found art derives its identity as “art” from the designation placed upon it by the artist. “Trash Art” is included in this exhibition as works are primarily created from components that have been discarded and then found. Forty-eight pieces of art were selected for the exhibition, representing artists from the tri-state area as well as artists from as far away as Missouri and Arkansas.
