Ashow of paintings by internationally acclaimed painter John Powell will open Friday at Beacon Fine Arts Gallery in Red Bank.
“Cottage Koi” Powell, a lyrical realist painter, will be present at opening receptions 7-10 p.m. Friday, Oct. 22, and 5-9 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 23.
Powell’s paintings reflect a varied life’s work of collecting and selling antiques, collectibles and artifacts and extensive travels.
His paintings, described as “complex assemblages,” are saturated with beautiful flowers, vines and bouquets reflecting his enthusiasm for gardening, intricate ceramic works, handmade rugs and fabrics of Asian, South American, Middle Eastern or European origin.
His work hangs in private and notable public collections, and the World Federation of United Nations honored him on its 50th anniversary.
