WRAT-FM seeking donations for charity

WRAT-FM (95.9 The RAT), a Greater Media radio station, will conduct its annual Thanksgiving season drive, “Broadcast for the People,” Nov. 22-23.

Employees of WRAT are hoping to fill a 40-foot-long tractor-trailer with items to be donated to three charities.

WRAT’s live “Broadcast for the People” will take place at Super Foodtown, Route 35, Neptune, on Nov. 22 from 6 a.m. to midnight, and on Nov. 23 from 6 a.m. until the trailer is full.

The “Broadcast for the People” is being sponsored by Pepsi, the New Jersey Lottery, Seaview Orthopedics, and Sansone Route 66 AutoMall.

Nonperishable food items (no glass) will go to the FoodBank of Monmouth and Ocean Counties; new or gently used clothing will be donated to the Family Resource Associates; and stocking stuffers (coloring books, crayons, gloves, winter hats, socks, washcloths, toiletries) will be given to Holiday Express.

Doug Sjonvall, promotions director for WRAT, said, “This year local fire departments and first aid squads have joined in the challenge to fill their trucks with donations for the “Broadcast for the People.”

For those interested in organizing an office or business drive to help fill the tractortrailer, Greater Media staff will help unload cars or vans, or even coordinate a pickup with their van from offices. For more information, call 732-681-3800, ext. 206.
