Plumsted to host tree lighting

PLUMSTED — Mayor Ron Dancer and the Township Committee, along with Main Street New Egypt, will host Plumsted’s annual tree lighting ceremony on Dec. 4 at Oakford Lake Park beginning at 6 p.m.

The tree was donated by Herb Marinari, owner of Big Woods Nursery.

The New Egypt Volunteer Fire Company and its big red fire engine will make a guest appearance with Santa and Mrs. Claus on board. Free pictures of children with Santa and Mrs. Claus will be provided.

All are welcome to attend, rain or shine, and bring a decoration to hang on the tree. For more information, call 609-758-7539.

Immediately after the tree lighting, the Plumsted Township Council for the Arts (PTCA) will be hosting its annual open house and gingerbread house contest.

All are welcome to join the Township Committee at the Welcome Center, 31 Main St., New Egypt, for a festive night of music, art and refreshments while admiring gingerbread masterpieces.

The evening will include photographs by PTCA member Rebecca Nowalski along with drawings by her daughter. Holiday music will be provided by Gian Torrano Jacobs on the harp.

Families, individuals and local groups are encouraged to enter a gingerbread house in the contest. All decorations must be edible and entries may not exceed 12 by 12 by 12 inches.

Houses must be delivered to the Welcome Center between 5:30-6:30 on Dec. 4. Winners will be announced and prizes will be awarded during the open house. Entrants must be present to win.
