Teacher named asst. principal

PLUMSTED — There is a new member of the administrative team at New Egypt High School.

Richard DeMarco was appointed as an assistant principal at the high school by the Plumsted Board of Education. He assumed his duties as assistant principal Nov. 1.

DeMarco replaced Michael Mendes, who accepted an administrative position at Wall High School, Wall Township.

DeMarco has taught special education pupils at the high school for nine years.

He was an assistant football coach, an assistant basketball coach and an assistant baseball coach.

New Egypt Principal Tom Farrell said DeMarco is open-minded and welcomes new ideas and concepts.

“His greatest attributes, among many, are his judgment, patience and enthusiasm,” Farrell said.

Plumsted Superintendent of Schools Mark DeMareo said, “Mr. DeMarco’s strengths are his exceptional verbal and written communication skills with students, parents and staff. His extensive comprehension of student learning, behavioral modifications and effective learning strategies will be of great assistance in order to work with a diverse student population.”
