Mr. Petrula, 64, of Freehold Township, died Dec. 7, 2010, at home after a courageous battle with cancer. He was a graduate of St. Rose of Lima School, Freehold, Christian Brothers Academy, Lincroft section of Middletown, and New Jersey Institute of Technology, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in engineering. Mr. Petrula was employed as a construction manager for the New York City School Construction Authority. Surviving are his wife, Bonnie Allen Petrula; two sons and a daughter-in-law, John Petrula and Michael and Kim Petrula, and a daughter and son-in-law, Jeanne E. and Jason Howlett, all of Freehold; a sister, Margaret Bradley of Colts Neck; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law John Allen of South Carolina, Debra and Dennis Bell, Cindy and Mike DiBenedetto, Lori and Hugh O’Neill and Jeff Allen, all of Freehold, and Betty and Art Sullivan of Delaware. A funeral liturgy was celebrated at St. Rose of Lima Church, followed by interment at the parish cemetery, Freehold Township.
