Suspect charged in stabbing at fast-food restaurant

OCEAN TOWNSHIP — A Neptune man is facing assault charges after he allegedly stabbed a passenger in his car in a Wendy’s parking lot last week.

At approximately 9:30 p.m. on Dec. 2, police responded to the Wendy’s parking lot located on Route 35 after receiving multiple calls about an altercation and possible stabbing, according to a report from the Ocean Township Police Department.

Ocean Township Patrolman Philip Jackson arrived on the scene and found that the victim, Shaquan Hadad, 19, of Neptune, had been stabbed in the abdomen, according to the police report.

An investigation by township detectives lead to the arrest of Lateef Reevey, 21, also of Neptune, police said.

According to police, Hadad and Reevey were passengers in a vehicle that pulled into the drive-through lane of the fast-food restaurant.

An argument ensued and Reevey allegedly stabbed Hadad with a knife, according to police.

The altercation was briefly carried outside of the vehicle and continued in the drive-through lane before Reevey allegedly left the scene in the vehicle prior to the arrival of police.

Hadad was left in the parking lot. Once on the scene, police transported the victim to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune for treatment where he was later released, according to police.

Police later took Reevey into custody at his home in Neptune. He is charged with aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose. He was transported to the Monmouth County Correctional Institution in default of $15,000 bail, according to reports.
