Blues and jazz musician T.J. Wheeler will perform his show “Hope, Heroes & The Blues” at 8 p.m. Jan. 14 at the Strand Theater, Lakewood. Also featured will beMattWade on the Hammond B3 organ and Brian Klammer on drums.
Swept up by the British invasion of 1964, Wheeler started playing the guitar when he was 12. He was first exposed to the blues at 16, after sneaking into a Berkeley, Calif., club, where he was mesmerized by blues guitarist and singer Buddy Guy.
In 1993, Wheeler received the W.C. Handy Award for “Keeping the Blues Alive” in education.
