Rec wrestlers get upper hand on Hillsborough

Manville’s rec wrestlers hosted Hillsborough and came to wrestle.
From the start at 45 pounds to the finish every one of the kids wrestled well. Nick Lombardino came out and dominated at 45 pounds. With a takedown and then an escape and another takedown in the second period Lombardino had a 5-0 lead going into the third. There he put his man to his back and got the pin at 2:17 for Manville’s first win.
Timmy Whitenight followed at 50 pounds by getting his own 15-7 win. Whitenight started off the first with a takedown and then five points to take a 7-0 lead into the second. There he worked another takedown to now lead 9-3 at the start of the third. With a reversal and then two more takedowns Whitenight closed out the bout at 15-7.
Shane Demeter made some quick work of his opponent by decking him at the 0:38 mark in the first. At 70 pounds Gavin Potts then went out and took his man down and to his back for a 5-2 lead at the end of the first. With two more back points the score going into the third was 7-4. Then with a quick escape and two more takedowns Potts won this match by 12-5.
RJ Thompson went out at 73 pounds and had a takedown and two back points for an early 4-0 lead. Going into the third Thompson still had the lead at 4-2. With a reversal in the third he finished this match with a 6-3 win.
Jack Lombardino and Conor Riggts received forfeits at 77 and 80 pounds to keep the winning ways going for Manville.
Joe Kronmaier went out at 85 pounds and reversed his man right to his back and had his pin at 0:32 of the first. At 90 pounds Blair Sauerhoefer took a forfeit.
And closing out the match Matt Rogalski at 105 ounds made quick work of his man with a takedown and then, using a power half to turn his man, he got the pin at 0:43 of the first.
In some of the other matches Justin Petti wrestled a great match and had a draw with the final score being 4-4. Jacob Reilly, with three takedowns in the first and an escape in the second, won his match, 7-4. Alex Cichon dominated his match with a takedown in the first. In the second Cichon reversed his man to the back and then pinned him at 1:46 in the second.
Shane Demeter wrestled a tough opponent for his second match. Demeter had a takedown and two back points in the first to take a 4-0 lead into the second. There he had an escape and another takedown to now lead 7-0. In the third, starting on top, Demeter had twp more back points to close out the match with a 9-0 win. Gavin Potts made quick work of his man with a 0:41 pin. Jack Lombardino made the most of his match by getting a takedown and then pinning at the 0:30 mark in the first.
Dylan Whitenight dominated his opponent with two takedowns and escape Dylan took a 5-2 lead into the second. There Whitenight had three back points for a 9-2 lead. He closed this one out with a reversal and a 11-2 win.
Manville will host Bound Brook Saturday at 9 a.m.
