YOUTH HOOP RESULTS: YMCA, WINTER, TRAVEL

The following are results and highlights from the Hopewell Valley YMCA Basketball League last weekend. BOYS 3-4
Patrick Mormile scored 15 points and Anthony St. John had four as the Wildcats moved to 3-0 with a 32-25 win over the Tigers. Tommy "Down Low" Mollis, Marc Porpora and Jim O’Connor also chipped in while solid defense came from Zack Crow, Luke McManimon, Jason Shepherd, Cole Giacobbe and Joseph Rebak. The Tigers Jason Greenzang, Luke Hilliard, Scott Seabridge, Ricky Reyes, Sean Dolan and Kevin Murray played a strong floor game.
The Bulldogs defeated CRM Funds, 25-14, behind Matt Nyce (12 points), Henry McMahon (4) and Aiden Discordia, Jack Haynes, Grayson Russo and Nate Stranieri (2 each). CRM had points from Nick Bates (6), Cal Caputo (5) and Liam May (3).
The Scarlet Knights defeated Tigers, 33-20, as Lawrence Mahle had 10 points, followed by Trevor Radice (8), Joseph Rodrigues (6), Kenny Tagliareni and Eric Osterman (4 each) and Jonathan Nardozza (1). Christian Zapata and Nicco Ellis played strong defense. The Tigers were led by Patrick Mormile’s eight points, along with Sean Dolan (6), Jason Greenzang, Luke Hilliard and Kevin Murray (2 each). BOYS 5-6
The Nets took a 30-29 win over the Celtics as Justin Cooke had 16 points. The Celts got six each from Alex Baron, Ryan Finnegan and Daniel Gewecke, five from Ian Airey, four from Drew Bodine and two from Andrew Brancato. Daniel Blumenfeld, Mike Saunders and Charlie McMahon provided good hustle and stellar defense for the Celtics. The Nets were led by Max (6) and Nick (5) Wills, who both had several steals., Brian Karp and Will Apple combined for three points and played tough defense. Grant Kaufman rebounded well and Matt Gibson made nice passes.
Andrew Mormile’s 20 points led the Heat to a 34-27 win over the 76ers. Chris Silva added eight, while Spencer Woods, Brandon Zeller and Trevor Allen had two each. Amos Barnes and Xavier Riley played great defense. The Sixers got 11 from Bryce Nagy while Dominick Gambino (6), Robbie Jastrebski (5), Ian Willick, Justin Raney (2 each) and Jack Dowey (1) also contributed.
Playing with just six players, the Knicks topped the Lakers, 32-27, as Justin Passer and Zack Bregenzer had 11 points each. Josh Alpern and Michael Pham added four each and David Nagley had two. Noah Cappello led the defense and rebounding. The Lakers got 13 from Joey Kolano, while also scoring were Michael Bozarth (7), Liam Heino (5) and Kyle Martorana (2). Anchoring the defense were Alex Tillman, Noah White and Bobby Beyer. GIRLS 5-6
The Wildcats defeated the Wolverines, 37-28, as Megan Radice scored 19 points, Jenny Costill added 10 points, Krissy Costill six and Ruth Wyckoff two. Lauren Murray, Elizabeth Brennan and Hannah Greenzang played tough defense. The Wolverines were led by Alex Babicki (12), Chelsea Barich (8), Samantha Barnes (6) and Kayla McInerney (2).
Camilla Collins scored five points, including two free throws with 10 seconds left in overtime to give the Jayhawks a 17-15 win over the Lions. Paige Braithwaite led the Jayhawks with six points each, Kelly Hoehn added four and Kate Modzelewski had two. For the Lions, Olivia Herbert had six points, followed by Jessica Miele (4) and Niamh Harkins (3), who tied the game with a late bucket to force OT. GIRLS 3-4
The Hawks topped the Tigers, as Ava Salmon, Ava Tillman, and Kathy Griffin led scoring and Anica Pinto, Samantha Miele, Adeline Danieluk and Emma Van Cleef played outstanding defense. The Tigers leading scorers were Kileigh Pfluger, Jessica Llewellyn and Sophia Stivala. WINTER HOOPS

After suffering a blowout loss Saturday, the Hopewell Valley U11 travel basketball team took out their frustrations Sunday with a 36-17 win over Pennsbury.
Leading the way were Cole Hare (11 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists), Robby Wiley (8 points, 4 boards), Patrick Higgins (6 points, 3 assists), Dominic Zangrilli (4 points), Jack Demareski (4 points on a 4-point play), Alex Mummert (2 points, 2 assists), and Max DeLosSantos (1 point). Hard frontcourt play came from Max "Windex" Brass (6 rebounds), Connor Murphy (3 rebounds, 1 block) and Andy Blake (2 rebounds, 1 steal).
A day earlier, HoVal fell to PlayHard of Hightstown, 51-29. Wiley (14 points, 12 rebounds) led the way with contributions come from Hare (4 points, 4 rebounds), Higgins (3 points, 2 assists), Brass (2 points, 4 rebounds), Mummert (2 points, 2 steals), DeLosSantos (2 points) and Blake (2 points).
The U12 Hawks lost to Somerville, 35-22, in a battle of unbeatens. Andrew Mormile had six points and six rebounds for the Hawks, while Joey Kolano and Kevin Crow contributed five each. Amaral had eight rebounds, while Amaral, Kolano, John O’Connor and Austin Oldfield had two steals apiece.
