Works of art sought for show

The Belmar Arts Council (BAC) has announced a call for submissions to its seventh annual Jersey Shore statewide juried art show. The exhibition is open to artists working in all media, age 17 and older.

This year’s jurors are Robert Pillsbury and Mame Green of the Salmagundi Arts Club in New York. Entries will be received on March 25 from 5 to 8 p.m. and March 26 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Boatworks, BelmarArts Council’s headquarters, at 608 River Road, Belmar.

The exhibition will be displayed from April 9 through May 13. The opening reception is on April 10 from 5 to 7 p.m.

During the reception, awards will be presented in five categories: Photography and Graphic Media; Sculpture and Fine Crafts; Painting; Mixed Media; and Best in Show. The winner of the Best in Show award will receive a solo show, and winners in the four media categories will receive a group show at the Boatworks during 2012, according to a press release.

Artists should note that all artwork must be original and not previously exhibited in a BAC show. Two pieces per artist may be entered, with a maximum of one piece to be accepted for exhibition. Acceptance is not guaranteed.

The entry fee is $15 per piece for nonmembers or $10 per piece for BAC members. Sales of work are encouraged but not required. An entry form and complete details can be obtained online at www.belmararts.org.

The programs of the BAC are funded by dues, donations and grants. The BAC is a nonprofit corporation dedicated to making Belmar a better place to live through the arts, according to the press release.
