PENNINGTON: Health meeting March 26

By John Tredrea, Staff Writer
A chance for Pennington Borough residents and merchants to meet and greet with members of their new health department — from Montgomery Township — is set for 10-11:30 a.m. March 26.
The event was announced at the March 7 Borough Council meeting by Mayor Anthony Persichilli, who urged local people to attend.
Early this year, the Pennington Borough Council voted to get public health services from Montgomery Township instead of Hopewell Township, which had been providing them to Pennington for years. Hopewell Borough also switched from Hopewell Township to Montgomery.
Officials of both boroughs say the switch was made because Montgomery offered a better deal than could be obtained from Hopewell Township after extended negotiations. Both boroughs also switched to Montgomery for animal control services.
After Montgomery health staff members have been introduced, a short video on public health services will be shown.
There will be a discussion of how to access health services — how to file a complaint, what health issues are involved in starting a retail food business and what clinical and animal control services will be available from Montgomery to the two boroughs. A handout on what the health department does also will be available.
Optional will be a courtesy blood pressure screening, provided by the Pennington First Aid Squad, and radon canisters will be for sale.
Attendees will have a chance to talk to health department staff members, one-on-one.
